The second floor includes the master bedroom and additional guest accommodations, making it a natural place for secrets, valuables, and questionable decisions. Perhaps the Rogue conducts a very professional investigation using their own version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears: “This chest is empty and a waste of my time, this one is heavily trapped and will absolutely kill me, and this third chest is just right and full of excellent loot.”
